The surface of the vestment is covered with a significant layer of dust which causes the fibres to dry out and become dry. There are also abrasions on the chasuble’s centre, probably caused by the use of the work, and small degrades in the gallons.
Restoration phases
Removal of surface dust by indirect suction with a graduated speed vacuum machine
Washing with pH neutral detergent solution and rinsing with demonized water on low pressure table.
Fastening of the metal yarns and application of protective micro-net to protect the areas of greatest degradation
Lining to cover existing packaging.
