Lucia Bubilda Nanni, an artist who draws with the sewing machine, imagined a chasuble that would hold a precious fragment of nature, an echo of the ancient flowered chasubles, where butterflies, bees and moths – symbolic presences of night and day – are inextricably intertwined with one another. The starting point of her research is a painting by Giovan Francesco Caroto (The Madonna of the Butterfly) in which a gentle Christ Child holds a butterfly close to himself by a very fine thread. In this chasuble the artist imagines a profound reversal: not a single thread, but a cascade of butterfly threads that fill the space.
