CaCO₃, a collective composed of Âniko Ferreira da Silva, Giuseppe Donnaloia and Pavlos Mavromatidis, presents Motion at Rest, a work representing the attempt to record the dynamism typical of their mosaic works through an unusual medium, in which certain aspects of their research take on a purely graphic connotation. In linocut, in fact, the classic act of laying mosaic tesserae is transformed into a gesture of carving and imprinting on fabric: each mark determines the direction of the next and, as with mosaic works, the piece is revealed only at the end, embracing even those imperfections that become elements as precious as they are structural to the work itself. In printing on fabric, the dynamism of the mark becomes the visualisation of a force in which balance and movement coexist in a space symbolically close to the sacred.
