intervention of conservationist restoration of a roman chasuble in Gros de Tour fabric in cream silk. The fabrics are richly embroidered with decorative patterns of fruit and flower branches.

the underlying fabric had lost its chemical – physical characteristics typical of silk and no longer had the old elasticity and robustness.

The restoration work aims to return the work to its main use.

Disassembly

Partial disassembly of the chasuble

Cleaning

Cleaning of metal yarn with neutral pH sponges and hydroalcoholic solutions.

Consolidation

The metallic threads are held up by technical stitches from the bottom fabric. Application of a micro protective net.

Lining

Addition of a new lining
