Intervention of conservationist restoration of a twentieth century cope (of the 40’s), in gros de Tours of beige laminated silk, with embroidery in golden metallic yarn.
The sensitivity of the seric materials and the methods of storage and use of the property were the main causes that affected the state of degradation.
Restoration phases
Disassembly of the packaging to access the back of the fabrics to be restored.
Elimination of the particle deposit on the front and back of all fabrics by a micro-aspirator with controlled speed and protective filter nets.
Cleaning of the base fabric and embroideries using neutral pH sponges and brushes soaked in hydroalcoholic solutions.
Reconstruction of the degraded decorations, fixing of the metallic yarns and application of micro-protective net to protect the most degraded areas.
