It is a chasuble of fire and blood that Enrico Versari has painted – a riot of vibrant, burning colours. In this work, where the colour red emerges decisively, the artist imagines the power of the saving blood of Christ and, at the same time, the breath of the Holy Spirit, “a propitious, fruitful and purifying fire”. While red is the dominant colour, it is enriched by black, purple, ultramarine and cerulean blue, carmine, ochre and cadmium, in a skilful and highly refined chromatic breakdown.
