In her ever-delicate painting, Rachele Biaggi addresses themes in which the greatness of the Virgin Mary emerges – her being a loving mother, Mother of Christ and of the Church. In this chasuble, marked by an intense iridescent blue, the artist imagines the beauty of a starry sky reflected on the waves of a night sea, in which the firmament, in all its silent splendour, becomes the protagonist. In this luminous night “the universe opens up – the artist comments – and the starry sky, with the Milky Way, the stars and their movement, seems to have stopped”; and in this contemplation of the heavens humanity raises its prayer: Ave Maris Stella.
